20 ml of SUBSTANCE X
Add 2 ml of 'x' into 5 test tubes
Addition Reaction-
TEST TUBE B
Add 5-10 drops of bromine water into
TEST TUBE B
Observe wether a colour fade occours
Oxidation Reaction-
TEST TUBE C
Add 20 drops of KMNO4 into
TEST TUBE C
Add 1-3 drops of blue litmus into
TEST TUBE C
blue to red indicates that it is a primary alcohol- no colour change indicate that it's a secondary or tertiary alcohol
Add 20 more drops of KMNO4
change colour to red-secondary alcohol
No Reaction- tertiary alcohol
Hydrolysis Reaction-
TEST TUBE E
Add 5-10 drops of water into Beaker E
Observe
Add 2 drops of Blue litmus
If its red, its an amide
Esters do not react in hydrolysis
BEAKER E
(NOPE)
Add 2 ml of deionised water into

Oxidation Reaction-
TEST TUBE D
Add 10 drops of Benedict's Solution into
TEST TUBE C
Stir
TEST TUBE D
for 5 minutes and let it rest for another 5 minutes inside a test tube rack
If there is red, It is an aldehyde
Add 1 ml of substance 'x' into a Test Tube
TEST TUBE G
Stir
TEST TUBE G
for 2 minutes
substance 'x' is soluble if it forms a homogeneous solution with water
Observe the solutions colour
Add 3 drops of blue litmus into
TEST TUBE a
TEST TUBE A
Place 2 ml of substance 'x' into a test tube
If red, its acid
If its blue, its not an acid
