SEMANTIC ROLES
With the use of Noun phrases it's possible to identify Semantic roles. In other words, the role that a word plays in a sentence.

EXPERIENCER
The entity becomes an experiencer when it represents a person that has a feeling, perception or state-

LOCATION, SOURCE AND GOAL.
When an entity is on, in or at, it is a location.
When an entity moves from a place (the source) and moves to other place (goal)
The study of the meaning of words, phrases and sentences.
Lexical relations.
We call lexical relations to those words that are related with each other. in order to know the meaning of a word we can say a synonymy, an antonymy or a hyponymy.

Hyponymy.
When the meaning of one form is included in the meaning of another, the relationship is described as hyponymy. We can identify one when the frase "a kind of " is in use, for example: That Orquide is a kind of flower.

Homophones and Homonyms
When two or more different (written) forms have the same pronunciation, they are described as homophones (bare/bear)
We use the term homonyms when one form (written or spoken) has two or more unrelated meanings. Race (ethnic group) Race (contest)
Polysemy
Can be defined as one form (written or spoken) having multiple meanings that are all related by extension. The word head, used to refer to the object on top of your body, on top of a glass of beer, person at the top of a company or department, and many other things.
Metonymy
Based simply on a close connection in everyday experience, the use of words to refer to the otheris an example of it. . We use metonymy when we talk about filling up the car, answering the door, boiling a kettle, giving someone a hand, orneeding some wheels
Collocation.
We know which words tend to occur with other words. Most of people would say nail after the word hammer. It is the study of which words occur together and their frequency of co-occurrence.
