Ancient Egypt
Religion
Egyptian religion was polytheistic, that is, they believed in various gods and goddesses, not in just one.
The deities had a half human (anthropomorphic) appearance, half animal (zoomorphic).
The Egyptians thought that there was life after death, or in other words, an afterlife. The dead were buried in tombs
Writing
The Egyptians, together with the Mesopotamian inhabitants, were the first to use writing. They produced a large amount of works of all kinds: literary, religious, scientific, technical.
The Egyptians invented a way of writing that was through pictures(hieroglyphs)
Economics
The land was fertilized annually by the rising water levels of the Nile, and on this land, they grew grain to make bread and beer, vegetables, linen to make fabric, etc. Bread, onion, and beer made up the basic diet of the working class.
The State
The Egyptians were governed by the Pharaoh, who was helped by government officials, governors, and military personnel in order to extend his power throughout the territories under his command and to ensure that the laws were obeyed. This organization headed by the king was called the State.
Art
Egyptian Art is better known than the art of other ancient villages. This is essentially due to two facts
The religious beliefs of the afterlife (many burials have been conserved)
The use of stone as a construction material in religious buildings and funerary monuments (temples and tombs), which has given them great strength and durability.
Society
The Egyptian Society was not equal. Egyptian Society was hierarchical and was structured into different groups.
At the top were the Pharaoh and the royal family.
The second group was made up of priests, high-ranking officials, province governors, military chiefs and scribes of high standing.
The third group was comprised fundamentally by the peasants, which constituted around 97% of the total population. The craftsmen and merchants were also in this group.
Slaves belonged to the fourth group. They were regarded as objects or animals and could be bought and sold. Many of them were working in the domestic service
