Grp2: Basic Geometrical Figures
Points
Represented by a dot.
Named using a single upper-case letter.
Use to represent a location in space.
Lines
Parallel Lines
Pairs of lines that have equal distance to each other and never meets
Perpendicular Lines
Intersecting lines that their intersection creates a right angle (90 degrees)
Made up of points and are straight
There are arrows at each end of the lines that extend infinitely far in both directions
Segments
Made up of points and are straight
Have a definite beginning and end
Is measurable
Rays
Like lines & segments
Made up of points and are straight
Begins at an endpoint and extends infinitely far in one direction only
Angles
Made up of two rays with a common endpint
There is a point called the vertex
The rays are called sides of the angle
Planes
Triangles
Can think of triangle as a union of three segments
Intersection of any two segments or sides forms the vertex of a triangle
Any 2 dimensional figures
Usually flat figures
Usually created with a minimum of lines that are intersecting
Circles
Set of points
Circles are equidistant to a fixed point called center.
