- - - - This group has a good understanding of color names and mixing colors. They have basic knowledge about primary and secondary colors. They have no knowledge of tertiary colors, so they will be introduced to them briefly.
        
        Differentiated Instruction: These students know the basics of color, so it is time to expand their knowledge of primary and secondary colors. First, they can watch a musical video about primary and secondary colors. Then, they can complete another fish-themed project. This time, they are painting fish in the primary colors, then mixing the primary colors together and painting fish with secondary colors. When they are finished, they can explore tertiary colors with the teacher's Magnetic Color Wheel.

        Tracking Progress: Again, the end result of the project will demonstrate if students understood the concepts. The students should be able to categorize primary and secondary colors. They should be able to identify which 2 primary colors are mixed to produce a certain secondary color. The teacher can compare this acquired knowledge with the results of the pre-assessment. The teacher can also photograph the student's work. This group will help lead a class review of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors in the next class.

    - - This group answered almost all of the worksheet questions correctly. They have a good understanding of color names, primary colors, and how to produce secondary colors. These students will also learn about tertiary colors.
        
        Differentiated Instruction: These students can cement their knowledge of primary and secondary colors, as well as learn about tertiary colors. First, students will watch an animated video that explains these concepts. Next, students will begin the "Color Wheel Fish" project. In this project, they apply what they've learned in order mix their own colors.

The students should be able to identify which colors are primary, secondary, or tertiary, and which colors were combined to produce them.     - - This group did not answer most of the questions correctly. They may have struggled with matching the correct colors to their names, due to being ELL students or students with special needs. They have no knowledge of the color groups: primary, secondary, and tertiary. These students may need assistance from a translator or a special ed teacher.
        
        Differentiated Instruction: These students should work with the teacher to review color names in English. They will watch a couple of videos and practice with a game. After they have demonstrated their understanding to the teacher, they can begin learning about color groupings with the teacher's Magnetic Color Wheel. They should also color a worksheet to demonstrate their understanding of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.

        Tracking Progess: As the teacher will be working closely with the students, they will be able to easily see which areas are challenging. They will be able to document each student's progress in this small group. Through observing the students as they play the game and complete the worksheet, the teacher will be able to see how much progress was made by comparison with the pre-assessment worksheet. The teacher can also photograph the student's work. The concepts of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors will be reviewed in the next class.
