Beautiful Bronze work lasting hundreds of years
China's first recorded history was of the Shang Dynasty, it is believed to have ranged from the mid 18th to the mid 16th centuries BCE. This was considered the Bronze Age because of all of the work in this dynasty with bronze.
Bronze drinking vessels, bronze chariots, and axes were found in the 1920s and 1930s
Tomb of Fuhao, wife of Wu-ting contained 468 bronze and 775 pieces of Jade, some of the bronze had the first written Chinese characters
Oracle boned were tortoise shells and cattle bones that were used to answer questions about the future. The oracle predicted the future and were a way for recording the history of the dynasty
More than 150,000 oracle bones have been recovered
The Shang were skilled workers with bone, jade, ceramics, stone, wood, shells, etc. They lived off the land and settled on farms.
Class system existed with king at top and lower classes

Yu was asked to help with the flood waters of the Yellow River. He came up with a plan that involved plugging 250,00 springs, and digging irrigation ditches based on a map from the back of a tortoise shell. He dug the ditches with his dragon and the help of the gods. He was rewarded by Emperor Shun as the first Emperor of the Xia Dynasty
Xia Dynasty

Lasted 500 years for the 21st to the 16th Century BCE
Known for Black Lacquered pottery
China is the longest continuous civilization in the world lasting 7,000 years of history. They did this due to their physical geography surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains to the southwest, the Gobi Desert to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the east. They were in effect isolated from the rest of the world until the 1800s. They considered themselves the Middle Kingdom because they believe they were in the middle of the world.
Qin Dynasty
Improved the use of iron and created systems of hydraulic to dig riverbeds deeper and reduce flooding.

Qin created change in the government, but they were harsh leaders that supported Legalism which taught that human nature could not be trusted, only strict laws and penalties were need to control society.
The Qin Dynasty lasted only 15 years and was replaced by the Han Dynasty
Lao-tzu "Old Master" created Taoism. The myth says that he came from the womb as an old man, full of wisdom. He became the head librarian of the Imperial Archives, he lived out his life beyond the Great Wall of China...Tao Te Ching was written by him and is an important text of Taoism
Taoism and Taoists believe that eveything is one and their job is to not forget and to remember oneness.
Taoism as a folk religion was adopted by China as a state religion in 440 CE and is practiced today
