Social media is the use of digital technology to support the creation and sharing of multimedia content which represents peoples thought and ideas, sometimes different products on an online interactive platform.
The increase in sharing of user-generated content has led to the development of virtual communities where content can be submitted from all around the world.
Social media applications are Web 2.0 based and are generally delivered to the end user via web-based and mobile telephone technologies. Content is shared in an interactive forum and members are encouraged to view content posted by others, discuss content and share their own ideas.

Not all members of the target audience may have access to social media
