Using a hunger scale
When you feel an urge to eat, rate hunger on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being so hungry you can't function, and 10 being so full you feel sick (link to a scale)
Generally, we want to start eating around a 3 or 4 and stop when we're at a 5 or 6.
We often eat when we're not hungry as a coping mechanism. On the other hand, getting too hungry can trigger binging.
