The plot: A nameless narrator, an experienced sailor called Marlow and three typical representatives of the Victorian bourgeoise are on board a ship on the river Thames. Marlow tells a tale concerning mr Kurtz, the cruel colonizer, and then is sent to take him back to civilization. Kurtz dies insane. Marlow, instead, travels to the heart of Darkness to find out the truth about Imperialism, but he reveals his nostalgia for the lost faith in Imperialism.
