Grew up in Wales in an artistic family. Went to uni in Leicester to study knitwear production. Left university just at a time when Leicester's knitwear industry was on the decline so set up her own business in her mid 20s designing knitwear, usually one-off pieces such as a shawl to go with a wedding dress.
Born to lead a creative life and still managed to do this in her 20s and 30s - even with 4 kids in a 5 year period (two of the kids were twins... but even so that is quite a project). Part of it was out of financial necessity to have an income, but always managed to make it a creative role.
