"A major goal of multicultural education is to provide all students
vvith the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to function within their
community cultures, within the mainstream culture, and within and
across other ethnic cultures" (Banks 2)
I think that this character is somewhat privileged, being a white male with dreams to go to NYU. If the book were about him alone, it would not be multicultural at all. However, he goes to a predominately non-White school so he is learning how to interact with other community cultures.
