Values of pH greater than 7 represent a basic solution or an increase in OH- ion concentration or decrease in H+ ion concentration
Higher the pH, more basic is the solution, lower the pH, more acidic the solution
Acids that give rise to more H+ ions are said to be strong acids and acids that give rise to less H+ ions are called weak acids
