**Description:
Students will produce a 3D model of a site location for a OE week. The project is massive in scope because of the number of faculty invovled and the potential for the project as a pedagogical model for other classes and interdisciplinary units. Goal: effectively integrate tech use, MYP I&S, and experiential ed to deepen learning for both students and faculty.
The model will begin with a Gr. 6 I&S class, focusing on Geographjy and research skills.
Entire project will be 1 trimester. Problems and questions placed in real-world contexts (Fullan & Donnaly, pg. 16)
The production of the model will occur in 4 phases:
Phase 1: Front loading student learning with essential geographic content, vocabulary and imagery and map reading skills. Students will also learn essential technology skills to launch the project
Phase 2: Field Data gathering & application of mapping skills
Students will record data before and while on the outdoor education trip
This will include a "soft start" with a local area. Students will practice using maps and applying knowledge.
Recording data such as locations, distances, experiences, observations, etc. Done in a journal and on maps
Phase 3: Students make a model of the location
Phase 4: students populate the model with data gathered in the field.
