COMMUNICATION
Its Elements
Sender-Receiver
- He/she both sends & receives messages simultaneously.
- The sender initiates the conversation, the receiver takes in the message.
Message
- Refers to the content of a communication which one seeks to share, be it facts, ideas, feelings, whether it be concrete or abstract.
- Could be in verbal/nonverbal.
- Either short & easy to fathom or lengthy & with much complications.
Channel
- Pathway through which a message is transmitted.
- Major channels: light & sound waves that enable us to see & hear one another.
- Other human senses are also considered to be channels.
Feedback
- Response of the receiver to the source's message.
- Enables the source to find out if the message was received & correctly interpreted.
- Silence does not equate to zero feedback.
Setting/Environment
- The internal and external factors affecting the communication process.
- Includes the attitudes, relationship, physical condition, culture & other social conditions of both the sender & receiver.

4. Semantic Noise
- How the message is interpreted by the
receiver depending on the culturalor linguistic background.
- Example: An audience misunderstanding
the meaning of LOL while younger readers can grasp its meaning. Misunderstandings occur due to ambiguities inherent in all languages & other sign systems.
5. Environmental Noise
- The noise generated by the environment such as
a passerby simultaneously talking while you are in deep
conversation with a friend.
6. Psychological Noise
- The attitude of either the speaker/listener towards
one another.
- It could be anger/excitement that could result in
the loss of attention & interest of
either the interlocutors.

2. Organizational Noise
- The arrangement of the message.
- Where it matters most? Communication events.
- Without proper structure, the audience will lose interest
because they cannot grasp the sender's ideas.
7. Syntactic Noise
- Grammar mistakes, such as abrupt changes in verb tense
in a sentence or differing sentence structures between/among
various cultures.
1. Cultural Noise
- The misunderstanding as a result of cultural differences.
- Sender's message will lost likely be treated with disdain.
