        This is first acute exacerbation requiring hospitalization
        
        Client also has a history of Hypertension since her early 60's. Treatment of beta blockers
      - Treatment upon diagnosis:: nifedipine XL 30 mg daily
      - acute exacerbation of Stage III COPD
      - Sinus Tachycardia
      - edema secondary to acute exacerbation of COPD
      - R/O pneumonia
    - - difficulties with SOB and coughing made it difficult for client to carry on a conversation
        
        Oxygen adminisstered at rate of 3L/min via simple mask; IV (normal saline at 125 mL/hr; abulterol nebulizer treatment
    - - tiotropium w/ albuterol [for rescue]; instructed to use albuterol inhaler as needed every 2-4 hours
      - Fluticasone BID (twice a day)
      - nifedipine XL
      - Prilosec
  - - - Negative for coronary disease
      - Mother died of breast cancer
      - Father died of pneumonia
    - - Client used to smoke 1-2 packs per day for ~30 years; quit at age 49
      - Married and had 2 sons
        
        Husband passed away 6 months prior from sudden cardiovascular complications from diabetes
        
        Lived in Los Angeles, CA
        
        Lived in the same home for 20 years
        
        Client was a realtor before retiring near Phoenix, AZ
        
        Son Walter: lives in Salt Lake City, Utah and is the most involved in her care
        
        Son #2: lives in California
