THE GREAT WORK OF YOUR LIFE
1 - LOOK TO YOUR DHARMA
TRANSLATED AS: Moral law, right conduct, sacred duty, path of righteousness, true nature, divine order
We are all born with many gifts our own unique life purpose
Krisna says to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita - Better to fail ot own Dharma than succeed in someone elses
Gifts are not Dharma - fingers pointing to Dharma
Think of small as large
Be who you are, listen to your inner voice
Follow your heart and inner voice and do what you love
DO IT FULL OUT
Dharma also involves a point of jumping off the cliff
Dharma upholds, expresses the order, harmony and essential nature of individual beings in the world whilst upholding and unseen inner world
Follow curiosity and create conditions for Dharma to flourish
One must attain a singleness of purpose
Finding Life Purpose is mostly about creating the right conditions in mind, body and surroundings
How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives
PRACTICE DELIBERATELY
Sustained practice for 2hrs + a day
With specific intention of improving
System so results can be measured, evaluated and improved
Feedback loops, teachers, colleagues, experts
Appropriate attention to essential ingredients recovery time
Measuring precise details whilst holding onto whole picture
LIFE PUROSE
Life Purpose = Dharma
4 Areas to Dharma
Doubt and sitting on the fence to be recognised
Sitting on the fence is action motivated by confusion
Certain actions that lead to freedom & fulfilment
LET GO OF THE FRUITS
Never engage in activity for the sake of the reward
Perform work without selfish attachment
Give yourself entirely to your work but let go of the outcome
Clinging the the outcome has a negative effect on performance as it disturbs the mind - divided between present and future
Those motivated by desire of fruits are never fulfilled as they are constantly anxious about results of what they are presently doing
Yogic system is the most effective path to follow this
If focussed on the outcome
DISTURBANCE - Wasting energy, confusion, overheated mind
OBSCURATION - Do not see clesrly
SEPARTION - Split between person and object
ANTIDOTE - Change desire to aspiration - harness deeper aspects of desire whilst skilfully removing the afflicted aspects
When difficulties arise - absorb these as your Dharma - Aversion is not the answer
Pain is inevitable - Suffering is optional
LEAVE IT UP TO GOD / UNIVERSE
