In ICU patients and in elective surgery, recent studies suggest benefit with the choice of transfusion threshold (70g/l)
After CABG, there is no harm in choosing 80 rather than 90g/l
In patients with uncorrected IHD, 100g/l may be better
In acute blood loss, earlier transfusion should be considered, based on EBL and HD (e.g. >1000ml or 250ml/hr)
