Genes have been studied and can often play a role in making individuals vulnerable to becoming schizophrenic.

If a parent has schizophrenia it is very likely their child will develop the disorder as well, especially if the parent has a severe case.
If a child inherits the schizophrenia from their parent, they can either have the same symptoms of the disease as their parent, or completely different symptoms.
It is often likely that the child will develop different psychotic disorders that are related to schizophrenia
