Story
The story is about a woodcutter who dropped his wooden axe in a pond. A water spirit came out. The spirit first came out with a silver axe and asked him if it was his and he said no. The spirit went down the pond and came out again with an axe but it was gold. The spirit asked the woodcutter if the gold axe was his and he said no. The spirit then gets his wooden axe and the woodcutter said that the wooden axe is his. The spirit liked his honesty and gave him the silver and gold axe. A merchant heard about the woodcutter’s tale so he went to the pond and dropped his wooden axe. When the spirit came out and with the silver axe, the merchant immediately said it was his. The spirit told him it wasn’t and disappeared leaving the merchant’s axe at the bottom of the pond.
