Global Engagement Community
(SLO)
Mission:
To engage students, faculty, and staff in the common goals of fostering respect for global and local perspectives by: 1) creating interactive, intercultural-learning opportunities 2) forming meaningful, sustained intercultural relationships, and 3) engaging in collaborative service projects to promote globalism on campus and in the community.

Curriculum
International Passport: track participation in activities chosen from menu
Course 1: intercultural communication (required)
Course idea 2: Creating a visible culture of supporting diversity
chapter 3 - create maps of social interactions (individual) and work together to join maps! discuss opportunities and challenges
chapter 2 - investigate leadership opportunities on campus for international and domestic students, share findings
chapter 1 - create surveys about cross-cultural classroom experience, analyze findings, share with class and discuss
Introduction - students explore PSU international environment and programming, learn about history of international students on campus, AND present compare/contrast to universities mentioned in introduction
Use "International Student Engagement" (Glass, Wongtrirat and Buus 2015) as a textbook
Course 2 (optional)
chapter 4 - discuss platforms and roles of social media for students. Investigate/propose social media uses for Global Engagement community
chapter 5 - views of belonging AND local/global opportunities and challenges on campus
Final Project: create a program, event, proposal, etc. that works toward creating a visible culture of supporting diversity
