Meerkat
Meerkats inhabit dry open areas, scrublands and savannas. They inhabit all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana and South Africa.
Meerkats hunt and eat insects, scorpions, small lizards, snakes, eggs. They also eat roots and bulbs. They are immune to the venom of scorpions and snakes
These squirrel-size members of the mongoose family live in groups of different sizes, from as little as three to as big as 50 members.
They average about 50 centimetres long, including their tail. These extremely social animals live together in burrows, which they dig with their long, sharp claws.
Kangroo
There are four species of kangaroo, the Red, Antilopine, Eastern Grey and Western Grey Kangaroo. Red Kangaroos are the largest marsupial and can grow up to 2 metres.
Kangaroos have very powerful legs and can be dangerous at times. Kangaroos can jump very high, sometimes three times their own height. A group of kangaroos is called a 'mob', 'troop' or 'court'. The red kangaroo is the largest marsupial in the world.

Kangaroos have few natural predators: Dingoes, humans, Wedge-tailed Eagles and, before their extermination, Tasmanian Tigers.
Emu
Emu is the second largest bird on the planet (after ostrich) and the largest bird in Australia, where it lives.
The emu prefers life in woodlands, scrublands, grasslands and forests. Emu is a flightless bird whose ancestors lived at the same time as dinosaurs.
Emus eat a simple diet of fruits, seeds, growing shoots of plants and insects. They swallow small stones (called gastroliths or gizzard stones)
