An ecosystem is the total interaction of a community of living organisms (biotic) with the non living (abiotic) parts of the environment
-
Interdependence is the idea that species depend on each other. If one species is removed from the ecosystem it can be totally damaged
-
-
organisms are adapted to the environment they live in meaning they have special features to help them survive these features ma be structural, behavioural or functional
-
The world is populated with different species who all behave in different ways this is called biodiversity
peat bogs
A peat bog is a wetland which equires dead plant material they have a high amount of biodiversity so using them for compost is damaging and burning it releases large amounts of co2 inti the enviroment

variation and evoultion
sexual reproduction
the human egg cell and the human sperm cell contain 23 chromosomes each when these gametes meet they fuse together to make a single cell and it contains information from both parents
this is called meiosis and is used to produce gametes from sexual reproduction-each daughter cell has half the amount of chromosomes than the parent cell

homeostasis and response
-
The nervous system enables us to react to are surroundings it consists mainly of receptors and neurons situated in the brain and spinal cord
-
-
-
-
A reflect action happens when a conscious response is to slow and therefore making it dangerous-the channel of reaction bypasses the brain to create a more immediate response
-
nerve cells are elongated muscle fibres with branched nerve endings in order to connect many muscle fibres
nerve cells (neurons) never touch and there is a small gap between them called a synapse.A signl sent from one neurone to the next by a chemical transmitter these transmitters are then destroyed
hormones are chemical messages produced by endocrine glands. They control the way in which parts of the body work and are transported in the blood stream to the largest organs
