Sensory and Motor Systems (. (Cultaneous Senses: sensitivity to skin touch…

- connected by tendons (muscle fibers:tendons:bones)
- Flexion: tends to bend joints
- Extension: straightens joints

Dorsolateral Corticospinal Tract Pathway:
- starts at primary motor cortex (M1)
- travels through pyramidal tract, crosses @ medulla
- travels in ventral horn of spinal cord (dorsolateral portion)
Ventromedial Corticospinal Tract:
- starts @ M1
- travels through pyramidal tract
- Synapses @ brainstem nuclei
-Tectum: in mesencephalon (visual/auditory)
-Vestibular nucleus (balance)
-Reticular formation (reg of typical movements)
-Motor Nuclei (facial muscles)
- Synapses on interneurons in ventral horn of spinal cord
- Synapses on motor neurons in ventral horn of spinal cord
- Synapses on muscle fiber in limb

-
Motor Nuclei:
- caudate
- putamen
- globus pallidus: internal and external division
(motor nuclei in brainstem = ventromedial pathways)
