Positive emotion:

Engagement: correlates with the idea of flow....represents the coming together of a person and an environment...GGS examines pathways to complete immersion in activities to support understanding and experience of optimal functioning.
Relationships: the pursuit of relationships is a rock-bottom fundamental to human well-being...GGS develops social and emotional skills to enable the development of nourishing relationships with self and others.
Meaning: belonging to and serving something that you believe is bigger than the self...GGS develops an understanding of the benefits of serving a greater cause and engaging in activities to support that.
Accomplishment: It is “[exerting] mastery over the environment,” and achieving a goal because it can be achieved...GGS focuses on developing confidence and competence through striving for and achieving meaningful outcomes.
GGS added Positive Health to their model...aims to help individuals develop a sound knowledge base from which to establish habits that support positive physical & psychological health across the lifespan.

the application of positive psychology in schools...the combination of Positive Psychology principles with the best-practice teaching to promote optimal development and flourishing in the school setting.

Examples:
P: Explicit teaching of the broaden & build theory to develop the students' understanding of the benefits & importance of positive emotion
E: Using the application of strengths to promote engagement...Using a multi-disciplinary project around character strengths...involves discussions, art, and practical application
R: ACR -active constructive responding - responding to others' good news with authentic, active and supportive interest in order to build strong relationships
M: Students are asked to reflect on what it means to live a meaningful life, examine inspirational stories from other people, and commit to one short-term and one long-term action that would add meaning & purpose to their lives.
A: Praise focused on effort to develop and promote a growth mindset...teachers are trained to provide effective forms of feedback.
Health: Focus on resilience using the Penn Resiliency Program which aims to enhance resilience & prevent depression by teaching social problem solving skills and cognitive and behavioural skills. Students a GGS use these skills to the real-life challenges that arise during their Timbertop journey.
