Definition Suspect - child - sudden-onset seal-like barking cough (often accompanied by stridor, intercostal indrawing). Prodrome - 12-48hrs URTI, often hoarse voice. Moderate/servers cases - agitation, fatigue, seesaw breathing, cyanosis, decreased GCS
DDx - epiglottitis, FB, retropharyngeal abscess, tonsillitis abscess, angioneurotic oedema or allergic reactio
•Moderate croup symptoms include seal-like barking cough with stridor and sternal recession at rest; no agitation or lethargy.
•Mild croup symptoms include seal-like barking cough but no stridor or sternal/intercostal recession at rest.
•Severe croup symptoms include seal-like barking cough with stridor and sternal/intercostal recession associated with agitation or lethargy.
