Women had to follow male commands. They had no right to vote and her freedom was limited as soon as they stepped outside the oikos. Women were escorted by men to avoid unwanted male attention, this was also why the gynaikon was placed at the back of the oikos and out of sight from visitors. Women also had a limit to how much they can purchase in a set amount of time.
