Acquisition Modeling
Automotive modeling
Bias: experience left poor impression of modeling in general, but that is slowly changing as introduced to different types of modeling

Since the specific suspension geometries were what was being modeled, these were not very abstract
There were some abstractions though, like the "body" of the vehicle was really just a wireframe for viewers to understand, but was conceptually more like a box only attached by forces where body mounts would normally be found with a certain weight set at its center of gravity
HMMWV, MRAP, and LAV had test data to compare to (validate)

There was a problematic term, called "lookahead" that modeled how far out in front of the vehicle the imaginary driver was looking. Set too low (close in) and it would be like if you were to suddenly see a squirrel in the road and crank the wheel - you'd roll the car. Set too high (far out) and the driver was already looking out past the path it was supposed to stay on, which would then get confused based on the steering angle input and the vehicle would go careening off the edge of the lane.
Without any real world test data to determine what this lookahead parameter should be set to in order to provide reliable results, Erin felt she was creating "make believe" all day.
