In an ABC Brainstorm the teacher selects a topic of study, The Middles Ages, for example. Students then list as many words that come to mind under a letter in the boxes on the sheet. For example, they may list "knight" in the K box. Next, the students get into small groups and transfer their words to index cards. One representative can place the cards on the class word wall. Repeated words can be grouped together, or a check-mark can be placed next that word. When the activity is complete, teachers can determine what the class knows about a particular subject :star:
