- - - - Continental is the layer of the earths crust underneath land formations.
      - Oceanic is the layer of the earths crust underwater, forming the sea bed/floor.
- - - - Volcanoes only form where there are constructive and destructive plate margins.
        
        A destructive plate boundary is the occurrence of oceanic and continental plates moving together- the oceanic plate is forced underneath the lighter continental plate; the friction from the two plates sliding over one another, causes the oceanic plate to melt and can sometimes cause earthqukes.
        
        The oceanic plate is denser than the continental plate.
        
        A constructive plate margin is an area where two plates are moving away from one another.
        
        When the plates move apart from each other the magma from the mantle rises up to make (or construct) new land in the form of a shield volcano. The movement of the plates over the mantle can cause earthquakes.
        
        A shield volcano is a volcano which is usually composed entirely of lava flows. It is the largest type of volcano on earth. They are not steep.
      - Earthquakes can form wherever.
