Government Initiatives (Training)
Definition
Monetary assistance provided by the government to absorb costs related to training and developing employees in a bid to encourage Singaporeans to further upgrade themselves and enhance their capabilities.
Enterprise Training Support
Helps to
Raise your employees’ productivity and skills levels
Attract and retain valued employees by developing good Human Resource (HR) and management systems and practices tied to training
Attract and retain valued employees by helping you benchmark compensation and benefits to market rates
Eiligibility
Companies must be registered or incorporated in Singapore; AND
New companies (i.e. companies who have not subscribed to any of WDA’s funding schemes previously); OR
Companies who have tapped on earlier WDA schemes, but they will not qualify for specific grant components if it was supported under the earlier schemes, e.g. HR Development Grant and Capability Grant
Funding
Training Grant,
Up to $200,000 per organisation
Capability Grant, One-time grant of $20,000 per organisation
Curriculum Contextualization and Alignment Grant, Up to $52,000 per organisation
HR Development Grant, Up to $60,000 per organisation
Compensation and Benefits System Review Grant. Up to $15,000 per organisation
Workfare Training Support Scheme
Encourages employers to sponsor their lower wage employees for training to upgrade their skills and improve business performance. Employers will receive course fee subsidy to lower training costs and absentee payroll funding for employees who are sent for training.
Eiligibility
Employees have to be
Be a Singapore Citizen; and
Aged 35 years and above (13 years and above for Persons With Disabilities); and
Earn a monthly income of not more than $2,000
Funding
Employers can benefit from 95% course fee subsidy and absentee payroll funding when they sign up their employees for
Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) courses
All WSQ courses are supported under the WTS scheme.
Part-time ITE Skills Certificate, Part-time NITEC and Part-time Higher NITEC courses offered by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
Enhanced Training Support for SMEs
Eiligibility
Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
At least 30% local shareholding by Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
Employment size of not more than 200 (at group level) or with annual sales turnover (at group level) of not more than $100 million
Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
Provides enhanced funding to enable SMEs to send their employees for training.
Increased Absentee Payroll Cap
SMEs can also claim absentee payroll funding of 80% of basic hourly salary at a higher cap of $7.50 per hour, a significant increase over the normal cap of $4.50 per hour.
Higher Course Fee Funding
Subsidies of 90% of the course fees when SMEs sponsor employees for the CET courses
