Flexibility
-
Dynamic Flexibility - The ability to use a range of movement in the performance of a physical activity at either normal or rapid speed

-
Goniometer Test - A 360 degree protractor with extending arms can measure the range of motion at any joint.
Sit and Reach Test - The distance from the finger tips to the edge of the table represents the score
-
1) Static Active - Maintaining extended positions using only the tension of the agonist and synergists while the agonists are being stretched
-
-
3) Dynamic Stretching - This consists of controlled arm and leg swings in order to reach the limits of your range of motion
5) Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) - Move slowly with a partner to your limit. Isometrically contract muscle being stretched for 10 seconds then relax muscles in order to turn of the Golgi tendon allowing you to go further
-
Increased Elasticity - Increased static and dynamic flexibility, Increased stretch of agonist and decreased inhibition of antagonist
Increased Resting Length - Muscle spindles adapt to increase length, reducing stretch reflex stimulus
