Discuss on the symbols used in Alice in the Wonderland through the looking glass
The looking-glass
Reflection
Reproduction of yourself(everything appears in an opposite way)
Alice developes an inverted perspective of life

Alice sees another side of herself
She seems braver in the wonderland than her real self
She risks her life in the wonderland in order to save Hatter's family
But in the reality, her timid character causes her inability to reject Hamish's plan. She feels like she has lost her bargaining power after her father's death
Sometimes you have to walk backward in order to achieve something
E.g. If you want to reach the door behind you, you have to walk backward. But if you walk forward to the door reflected on the mirror, you are actually walking away from the real door which you want to reach in the first dimension.
reaching the destination
Chess
We have goals in our lives
To Alice, her goal is to become a queen
So happen we are affected by external factors or obstacles
How other characters moves affect our decision on making the next step
Alice's moves are affected by pawns or the opposition in the chess game
Her wish to be the captain is declined by Hamish who tries to get the ownership of Wonder
social norm or believes
Alice cannot be the captain because she is a woman
Wonder
The Wonder= chronosphere
The Wonder sails across the 'Pacific' and the chronosphere sails across the ocean of time
Going back and forth
You might acknowledge sth from the journey
Bravery
The past cannot be changed, you can only learn from it
Alice is back from China and find out Hamish forcing her mom to sign a contract and with some wicked plans. Also, Hamish get the ownership of a trading company which her ship is belongs to. Hamish wants either the ship or her house. Alice couldn't do anything to change the fact that Hamish got the ownership when she is away. She learns that. What she can do is to do something at the present to change the situation.
Alice fails to change the history through time travelling via the chronosphere. She can only acknowledge that Hatter's family is still alive and she have to save them in the present.
Wonder through the Orient
Alice leads Wonder and the whole crew travel to the Orient(China)
orientation: Find out who you are and who you want to be, what you like and appreciate. The Orient might be a place where you can find beautiful or colourful things.
For people who are disoriented(partygoers in Hamish's party), they do not appreciate things in the Orient e.g. Clothes designed with Chinese's culture and so they dislike Alice who wear clothes from the Orient. They do not accept something new(to the western) They are confined by old thinkings on how western people should dress.
A tool to search for something wonderful
Alice sacrifice her house in exchange for the ship and leaving Hamish a hollow victory because the house meant nothing
So Alice and her mom can enjoy themselves on the ship
