Slovenia:Romans, Celts, Slavs; left Yugoslavia early, before the real issues started --> 2004 EU membership, Nato member, good relations with Austria and Croatia
Croatia: got caught up in the war; joined EU in 2013; after EU and Nato membership lack of real goals; difficult with Serbia and Bosnia
Serbia: anti western, close with Russia, long time no EU interest, now pursuing membership; difficult with Albania and Kosovo
Montenegro: left Serbia in 2006, positive development; Pro European --> next member?
Macedonia: left Y. without war; identity issues; wants EU; problem: name, fight with Greece
Bosnia-Herzegovina: problems with Serbia (border) wants to be active, but limited by internal problems;federation? failed state?
Albania: Nato member; wants to join EU, but too many internal struggles, supporting Kosovo
