Summer Reading Challenge

School paired up with the local library service to encourage reading.

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. Participants sign up at a local library, and then read six library books of choice to complete the Challenge. We are thrilled that so many of you took part in this great scheme and were reading throughout the summer. A special certificate from Brook Field School will be given to these children and they will be celebrated in an assembly too! Well done to you all!

In KS1, children have their own specific reading day, meaning that they will read to an adult atleast once a week.

2 stories a day are read in KS1

In KS2, every class has a class novel which is read daily.

Storytime Phonics

StoryTime Phonics is a fully immersive classroom experience for Early Years & KS1 children that teaches phonics following the Letters & Sounds Framework. It is the antidote to dry phonics learning.

Proven to enhance your phonics screening results, this scheme uses online editable resources & well known, popular children’s fiction books to contextualise the sounds that children are learning. Children are immersed in an interactive, multi-sensory experience through the use of storytelling and props, encouraging the parallel development of comprehension and phonics skills

Scheme has been purchased for each KS1 class

Book Selections

Pupil Council are asked for book suggestions for each class

On author days, a book from the author is given as a prize for the competition.
