Discovery of the World
Let the children grow their own plants by giving each child a seed to plant and allow them to observe and record its growth every week (Since in Spring plants start to grow)
Keep a rabbit as a classroom pet. Let them observe the rabbit and its tendencies whilst teaching them to care and respect their environment through feeding the rabbit. (Easter bunny)
Experiment in make their own slime and observe how the mixing of primary colours form secondary colours (Festival of Colours)
Make them observe the lion dance troupe and listen to the sounds of the performance. Allow them to explore the different costumes such as the lion costume, the da tou wa wa and the cai shen ye. This will allow them to develop a sense of wonder and curiosity for the Chinese culture.
Numeracy
Give them a flower with seven detachable petals and get them to remove or attach the petals based on an instruction sheet which tells them the various parts which form the whole (7) (Flowers blooming)
Use paper cut outs of the lion dance costume, dragon dance costume, da tou wa wa costume and cai shen ye costume to form patterns (CNY)
Sort a variety of eggs according to physical properties such as colour, size, design and texture (Easter Eggs)

Language & Literacy
Read to the Children a storybook about Spring. Then get each child to share one favourite aspect of Spring.
Give them a list of the names of things that can be found in a garden during Spring. Then get them to draw out the garden and label the items that they have included in their drawing.
Introduce to the children the Chinese zodiac and tell them which year they are in. Then allow them to explore the physical characteristics of the animal by showing them a picture and prompting them with questions.
Using eggs which have been labelled with different words, get the children to arrange the eggs in such a way that they form a grammatically correct sentence.
