The Golden Compass
Characters
Will
Another character in the story who is still young at 12, but is also a boy instead of a girl. He is the holder of what is known at the subtle knife. A weapon which is used to go from different world to world.

Lyra
Lyra is an 11 year old girl, and is also the main character of the story. She is only 11 years old, and it supposed to be the incoming person to be the next Eve. She is an elegant, while also fierce character in the story when need be.
Daemon: Pantalaimon ( When characters are younger their Daemon's have no specific shape yet they are going to determine their shape as they grow up, and develop as people in the story Pan turns into several different things including a moth, and a mouse )
Lord Asriel
He is Lyra's dad but early in the story he portrays himself as her uncle. He killed Mr. Coulter to have an affair with his wife Mrs. Coulter who is also known as Lyra's mother

Rodger
This character is Lyra's best buddy from back home in Oxford. Gets rescued after being captured but than later in the story becomes something of an accident to be known after reading.
Mrs. Coulter
Lyra's mom, and for a good portion of the story is an innocent bystander who is just there. Later on in the story she begins to be in the story more, and her daemon plays a big role near the end of the graphic

Locations:
Oxford
Large city located in Europe is in all seen / known versions of the world in the story, and it also home to Jordan College in one of the universes.
Trollesund
Is the main port of the city in which Lyra, and Will visit when they are on their way to Bolvangar.
Jordan College
Jordan college is a college that does not appear in out version of Oxford, but rather it shows up in the alternate dimension version of Oxford. This is the home of the main character Lyra.
Svalbard
This is the home of the ice bear government, and also the home of the "Panserbjorne Palace"
Bolvangar
A location super super far north, and is home to a lab where a group of people do experiments. Is also known as the "Field of Evil"
Plot:
Beginning
The beginning of the story starts with Lyra the main character of the story being a student at her school. However in this portion of the story she is spying on the "house master" They are forced to hide at one point when the house master walks into the room to get something to drink. A little later in the story you meet Lyra's best friend who's name is Rodger. He also is a young child like Lyra but he is a boy. A rumor arouses in the story that children from the school are being kidnapped by a group of people called "The Gobblers" who than take Rodger. Lyra becomes very unraveled and becomes determined to get her friend back from the mysterious group. She than gets side tracked and leaves with Mrs. Coulter and lives with her in London and forgets about Rodger for now.
Middle
Lyra finally gets out of Mrs. Coulter's house, and goes back to Oxford, London. On their way back Lyra gets nabbed up by another group, but gets rescued by a man with the name Tony. Tony brings back Lyra to the houseboat with him. While this happens however Mrs. Coulter is talking with police about finding Lyra, and they are looking everywhere for her. The Gyptians work to hide Lyra in all of this chaos so she cannot be found. While being hidden Lyra meets a kind older man with the name "John Faa" he is a nice man and is also a leader of the gyptians. He than tells Lyra that she is actually the daughter of the Lord Asriel.
End
After meeting John, and telling her the truth of her heritage the Gyptians decide to bring Lyra to the north with them. Lyra learns how to use a new technology that she is able to use to predict the future. Lyra uses the new acquired tech to help Lorek find his missing armor. Lyra gets captured and is taken to a lab where people are attempting to cut her daemon from her, and take what is hers. Mrs. Coulter causes a distraction and is able to save Lyra from being experimented on. They both run away from the lab, and a war begins between the Bolvangers, and the Gytians

Innocence
In the story the once innocent character of Lyra is changed into a character that is not so innocent. Her character sees battle, and horrid things for the first time and the character that once was so innocent is now grown because of the things she has seen
Ethics:
This story shows how people have a choice to do what is right, or what is wrong. The majority of the people in the story decide to do what is wrong, but Lyra, and Mrs. Coulter they are able to do the right thing, and do what everyone should be doing in the story rather than the wrong
