Types of questionnaires
Postal Questionnaires

Advantages- Cheap and easy to carry out. Can send to target sample and wait for a response so can be done in a persons own time.
Disadvantages- Low response rate, questions may be interpreted incorrectly.
Online questionnaires

Advantages- cheap, quick and easy to carry out. Large number of people can do it so it will have access to many in the target population.
Disadvantages- low in validity as may not be filled out correctly or thought much about the answers they are giving. Not representative also as a result of this. Low response rate. People may misinterpret the questions.
Telephone questionnaires
These are questionnaires open to the target population by a person calling someone in the sample and asking them a series of questions to gather information.
Advantages- Easy to carry out, have access to many people in your target population. Questions are answered while you're on the phone so if they don't understand a question it can be explained.
Disadvantages- May cost a lot of money and take a lot of time. Not representative as people may not be very honest and so also won't be valid.
Questionnaire
A set of printed or written questions, sometimes with a choice of answers, devised for purposes of a survey or statistical study.

Respondents choose from a range of answers, either yes or no or in the form of a Likert scale.
