Transport in cells
Active Transport: moves substances from a more dilute solution to a more concentrated solution (against the concentration gradient). This requires energy fro respiration
Diffusion: the spreading out of particles of any substance in solution, or particles of a gas, resulting in a net movement from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration
-
Osmosis: is the diffusion of water from a dilute solution to a concentrated solution through partially permeable membrane
Cell structure
Eukaryotes: plant and animal cells, have a cell membrane, cytoplasm and genetic material enclosed in the nucleus
-
-
Prokaryotes: bacteria cells, are much smaller. They have cytoplasm and cell membrane surrounded by a cell wall. There is a single DNA loop and sometimes small rings of DNA called plasmids

Cell cycle
Growth & DNA Replication
2) the cell has to grow and increase the amount of sub cellular structures such as mitochondria and ribosomes

Mitosis

-
4) chromosomes line up at the centre of the cell and cell fibres pull them apart. the two arms of each chromosome go to opposite ends of the cell
