    - - pleasure principle: urge to have our drives met.
- - - - Ego: unifying element of the psych at the center of our consciousness. Responsible for our feelings of identity and continuity
      - Personal Unconscious : all our personal experiences that have been block from our consciousness because they are unacceptable in some way.
      - Collective Unconscious: delusions, hallucinations, myths and fantasies. Human shared pre-born knowledge and fears
      - Archetypes: universal ideas that lie within the collective unconscious. Under certain circumstances might be projected on to society. e.g. good in situations of fear.
    - - Thinking:tries to be objective guided by facts
      - Feeling: tend to be conventional
      - Sensing: reality oriented.
      - Intuitive: very creative individuals excited by new
  - - - Need for affection or aporval, need for partner to take one's life, need for power, need for perfection.
    - - Detached: moves away from people.
      - Aggressive: moves against people. Beleive others to be untrustworthy and hostile.
      - Healthy: used all other three when the situation makes them necesary
      - Compliant: towards people. Submissive devalue their own capacities. Restricted boundaries to feel safe.
    - - Cynicism: defence in which the person believes in nothing. No positive expectation of nothing so they cannot be dessapointed.
      - Compartmentalisation: Put into categories different inconsistent believes so they don't conflict. e.g. christian and supporting apartheid
      - Blind Spots: steel while commending theft. Painful personal experienced denied because it's at odds with our idealised-self.
