Nissan presentation for Master Megatrend (Tech)
Slide 1
Imagine that you’re in 2022, traveling from Auckland to Wellington by autonomous car
but suddenly your car was attacked by a hacker
who has complete control of the car or its navigation system
and the hacker asks for money to release the car.
what you gonna do at that time. ???
slide 2
Nissan now
promised its customers that it will produce fully safe autonomies cars in 2022
which is
(measures taken to protect computer system against unauthorised access or attack
However,
Nissan recently
has an issue in Cybersecurity and it's data breached a number of times
for example
( in 2017 around 1.13 million of Nissan’s customer in Canada were victims of data breaches
this ciuld happen because there is an issue in cybersecurity
slide 3
in spite of
the advanced technology in AI & IoT reached by Nissan so far,
there is a weakness in their cybersecurity
So, A Question arises here
,
How Nissan can reach
its dream about driverless cars
in near future
without developing their Cybersecurity system.?
slide 4
Therefore
, There are two strategic solutions, which may reduce an issue of Cybersecurity
Redundancy Cybersecurity
It involves
connecting
critical
areas or functions to more than one system
to prevent single points of failure
Air gapping
This is
a process
of
isolating
the most
critical
areas of a system from the most
exposed
areas
to protect it from outside threats
(Wallen, 2017).
implementing these strategies solution is could be expensive, but it is worthy for the company and to make its customers safe when they will be traveling in future.
This two system have been successfully used by aviation industry, so Nissan should get advantage from their experience in this aria.
That means
If one system
is attacked by
an external hacker,
then that
critical system
can still be
supported by another system.
For example
, isolating the entertainment networks from the
critical control systems
such as braking.
