Should students be required to take a second language?
Thesis Statement
Students shouldn't be required to take a second language because some students might not be interested, they might not even need to learn it, and some of the languages might not be related to the country they are in.
Hook
"To learn a second language, you need to be interested and have a purpose. Without those two, you have no need to learn it in the first place." -Author Unkown
When you go school, you learn about many things; learning another language isn't exactly something you would expect.
Do you ever wonder why kids are learning to read, write, and speak in a different language in the first place?
Relation To Country
If the language students do learn are related to the country, they might not be often used in the area they live in- or even at all.
Some schools in the world teach languages that don't even relate to their country.
Learning another language that is mainly just associated with their own country. It does not really help with communicating with people outside your country unless they also speak the language you have learned.
Need To Learn
Unless you decide to move to a country which requires you to use the language you learned, you will have no use in learning another language.
People most likely do not need to use the language they learn at school somewhere else.
Students should be learning other things during school. Communication is important, but it can be learned in other ways. English is also one of the most common languages that many people use to communicate inside and outside their own country.
Interest On Language
Some scholars might want to learn a different language that is not available in the school they are learning in.
Even if students are interested in the language at first, they might lose interest as they continue to learn the language.
Some students do not have an interest in the language they are forced to learn.
General Info
Most schools make students learn a second language; but not all students enjoy it.
Students have many interests in academic things. Some do want to learn languages, but the language they might want to learn isn't available in the school they are enrolled in.
Students should have a free will to choose to learn a second language or not.
