Unit 5 Human Body and Finals Study Guide
Digestive System
Mechanical Digestion- The digestion that starts to break down the food mechanically.
For example, the mouth/teeth chew the food into small bits so it can later be dissolved into nutrients.
Chemical Digestion- The digestion that breaks down food and nutrients chemically.
Example, your stomach acids break down the food by being chemical. It breaks down the food into nutrients.
Vocabulary
Nervous System- The system that includes your brain and spinal cords
Arteries- The blood vessel that takes blood away from the heart.
Bladder- Where urine is stored.
Urinary System- The system that helps us to get rid of waste by urinating.
Veins- Carry blood to the heart.
Respiratory System- The system that helps us to breathe.
Capillaries- Connect veins and arteries.
Digestive System- The system in our body that breaks down nutrients.
White Blood Cells- Attack diseases and protect your body.
Lub- The small push for the blood.
Dub- The refilling of the blood.
