Differentiation
Group 1 Students:the 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Tracking Assessments:
Project "Checkpoints": Assessing students progress through a scientific investigation to ensure students understanding is developing more and that the inquiry based learning is occuring
Formative Quizzes: A simple 10-12 question quiz related to the topic. Questions will go from medium to very hard in terms of difficulty, mostly based on critical thinking skills.

Group 2 Students: the 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills

Tracking Assessments
Learning Logs: Allow students to communicate in a journal/log, what parts of the units they are understanding or not understanding. This will allow you to track what they have learned, as well as plan future lessons.
Formative Quizzes: A simple 10-12 question quiz related to the topic. Questions will go from medium to hard in terms of difficulty, with some critical thinking skills questions.
Group 3 Students: the 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs

Tracking Assessments
Learning Logs: Students can have time to describe what parts of class were understood and what were not. This can be communicated with families at home as well as counselor (if deemed necessary)
Tracking Sheet: Teacher can use these to track progress and learning. The students can work through this week by week with the teacher to express part of unit that are understood and parts that are not.
