Creating insight and raise awareness through data collection in order to improve the food waste management at Amphia Hospital
Organisational Behaviour
By structuring the organisation in a different way, they will have the opportunity to create insight and raise awareness of food waste management. Creating a program to change the unquestioned habit of the employees which is 'we've always done it this way'.
Is the study of what an individual thinks, feels or does in and around an organisation.
They should create a work environment where the employees are working together to a common goal which in the end is reducing food waste.
Finance
There is a lot of money to save when looking at food waste. Currently, in Dutch hospitals and health care, 25% of food is thrown away, representing a loss of 50.000 - 150.000 per hospital anually (Depending on their size) (Wageningen University & Research).
We hope to attain exact information from Amphia's supplier Daily Fresh Food. Get facts about how much is thrown away in Amphia Hospital.
Currently, Amphia's food waste costs are 163.130,97 euros.

Marketing
Creating more internal awareness about food as a part of the treatment and food waste management is a goal that should be incorporated within the mission and vision statement of Amphia.
By starting with making small changes now Amphia will already improve their brand image before moving into the new building where bigger changes will be made.
We believe Amphia should start with creating a more sustainable culture. The employees should have common values, norms and behaviours as part of their corporate culture. By acting in a more sustainable manner, they could reduce food waste.

Supplier relation process
Amphia needs to get better insights in what the value can be when they apply food waste managment and adapt this new found information in the purchase section. The supplier and Amphia need to share their data in order to create more knowledge for parties regarding food waste management. Having good and clear communication between Amphia and Daily Fresh Food improves the relationship between the companies, which can lead to a mutual benefit. This will result in reduced waste and that contributes to sustainability.
