up to 1998 - Developed and developing countries differed where lower income breastfed while developed used formula
2000, 2006 – If woman does not have access to AFASS (acceptable, feasible, affordable, sustainable and safe) foods, then exclusively breastfeed and stop early to avoid mixed feeding
2010 – women should exclusively breastfeed 6 months and continue partial breastfeeding to ~ 1 year while either infants (Option A) or women (Option B) are given ART until 1 week after breastfeeding stops
2012, 2016 – Option B+ where all HIV-infected women should start on lifelong ART and breastfeed according to standard recommendations
