Food Waste and Advertising: When food is advertised it looks perfect, which creates a stigma about foods that are perfectly fine but look odd, contributing to the amount of food that is wasted.
Advertising and Accreditation Labels: Accreditation labels are advertised as being helpful and encourage people to buy fair trade foods, without giving the full story of how they are qualified as fair trade.

Eating Disorders and Advertising: Social media and other forms of advertising can contribute towards the development of eating disorders. People being influenced by the body types they see in the media have a harmful effect on a person with a developing or full-blown eating disorder.

Sugar: Americans are consuming too much sugar, which leads to obesity and other weight-related problems. This excess sugar is caused by sugar-sweetened drinks and packaged foods.
Advertising and Sugar: Unhealthy food, including food with a high sugar content, is being marketed towards children, increasing the risk that they will consume too much sugar. Fat was also marketed as the cause of weight-related problems, causing an increase in sugar in products in order to replace the fat that was taken out.
Food Allergies: Food Allergies occur when there is an overactive immune system response to the introduction of a food.
Food Allergies and IBS: Food Allergies and Intolerances can exacerbate the effects of IBS, as well as contribute to causing it.
Food Deserts: Food Deserts are communities in low-income areas that only have access unhealthy food, usually fast-food restaurants.
Advertising and Food Deserts: Black children, who primarily populate low-income areas, see an unporportionately high amount of commercials for unhealthy food than white children. In addition to only having access to unhealthy food, that is also the food that is marketed towards them, normalizing the increased consumption of fast food.
Accreditation Labels :check: Accreditation labels are given to foods that qualify as “fair trade,” however, there are many problems with the system, such as standards for fair trade being loose and how much it actually improves situations.

Compost & Recycling :recycle: There is too much waste and not enough space to put it. Landfills, where waste is put, are bad for environment and contribute to climate change. There are unclear regulations about recycling and composting, which causes people to just throw things into the trash.
Compost and Food Waste: Along with the excess food waste, the food often does not go to the compost, as it is unclear what the rules are and unclear what happens to the compost after it gets taken.
Farmers: The amount of farmers in America is going down, due to urbanization, bigger agricultural companies, and lack of income.
Food Borne Illness: An illness caused by the bacteria in contaminated foods. The bacteria release a toxin when they multiply that harm the body.
Food Packaging: Harmful and excess packaging for food is contributing to pollution and climate change.
