Forecasting & Budgeting
Hit the ground running with BCG in the budgeting process, and took ownership of the Non-Fresh changes that were required. Also were a huge help in collaborating with Paul on how to make the final adjustments, and maintain the model after shifting quarters and category resets between lines.
Have been working hard to
get more granular on the F19 forecasting process
and ensure that the direction we're taking will fit into how the category directors expect the forecast process to work. This has not been easy, and F19 this will be a significant piece of work that you'll own & manage.
Did an excellent job of helping set up the models for the wholesale margin reviews for all regions. Really well executed under a very tight timeline, and lack of certainty.
Margin Control
This one is hard for everyone, as we're all starting from different places on what knowledge we know, and how to troubleshoot. I think we struggled as a group to always have an adequate anwser to questions that we were posted on results in a timely and accurate fashion.
In F19 this will be an extremely important goal that will be executed by using the various BI reports and Finance developed reports to ensure that we have quick & reliable views to how the decision the business is taking is impacting profit.
I recognize that you've been taking steps towards building relationships with key departments that impact our profit results, for example the meeting with Jennifer from SR, and the allowances meetings that you've orchestrated.
Engagement
The difference in engagement & performance of your team is a testament to the attention & training you have been providing them as you learn the ropes yourself, the effort you've demonstrated towards this goal is certainly recognized by me and by your team. When I spoke to Will last time I was in NS, I could see that he felt like he was now able to contribute with his skills and was feeling like he belonged on the team. I think your
F19 goal will be how to continue to bring up the level of basic understanding on your team of finance & analytics so that they are able to help support high quality results that you have been demonstrating/modeling.
Analytics & Commentary
Have only really been in full swing on this for 1 month, but have seamlessly taken over what was being done, and added some throughful comments
Development of the tool for examining the impact of two promo weeks on the 1 fiscal week; I love this report, and have enjoyed getting more creative with how we can analyze the promo results.
Reached out on your own to get access to ad-dynamics and already have gotten a useful report comissioned (looking at YoY flyers)
I've seen some smart & creative analysis coming out of your own curiosities on learning the business more.
F19 this will take off, and my challenge to our team is how do we not only explore different ways to slice and dice data, but how to we visualize the results so that our business partners can easily understand the output of our analysis.
