SUMMARY
Judgment is biased relative to normative theory. Some biases arise from the heuristics people use. Motivational factors explain others such as hindsight and wishful thinking. Use of heuristics may be procedurally rational. Choice of them may be too. Many biases we can explain by the way memory works or role of emotions, so it’s not just cognitive heuristics.
