Logframe Narrative for MUTA Project
Purpose: Increase production and consumption of Iron rich foods OR increase Iron intake/dietary intake in WOCBA and children
Outputs
2. Seed distribution
Number of farmers receiving seeds
Farmers will accept our new seeds
Farmers have assets to produce foods
Indicators - Measurable indicators easy, usable eg_ # measles vaccines procured, people trained to administer vaccine, have to be time bound
Means of verification
Indicators and means of verification:
Must be practical and economic
Provide the basis for the supervision and evaluation of the project
Means of verification must be:Available
Low cost / affordable Timely Useful
How to obtain evidence: Evidence
Considerations:
Who will finance these activities?
Who will implement these activities?
What quantity of information is required?
Quality of information
Checklist
Indicators & MOV Do indicators only state what will be measured?
Are indicators relevant, valid, reliable, measurable, affordable? Who will own them? Are the indicators necessary & sufficient triangulation?
Are the indicators varied enough but few? Do they measure, process, outputs, outcomes and impact?
Are the indicators well defined? Clear what will be measured? Are there baseline measures?
you may need more than one indicator, look for quan and qualitatives, triangulate results
Quantified indicators provided for different time points to facilitate periodic monitoring
If there are information problems, then alternative indicators should be sought, or a new activity (input) should be added to obtain the required information
If the verification of an indicator is very complex, or the cost very high, or the changes will occur only after a long period of implementation, “proxy” or substitute indicators should be sought
Activities
Distribution of seeds eg Moringa, iron rich beans
Create seed distribution points
2.Training agriculture extension officer
Procure seeds
2. Seed distribution
Assuming community leaders will not back out of agreement
Constant supply of quality seeds
agriculture will retain knowledge
3.2.2 Activity components
Components may be identified on the basis of a number of possible variables, including
• technical features (i.e. a health activity may have components focusing on malaria control, diarrhoeal disease, and acute respiratory infections)
• geographic locations (i.e. a census support activity focusing its capacity building activities on different provinces or regions and at the national level)
• beneficiaries (i.e. an HIV aids activity focusing on raising awareness among schoolchildren, sex-workers, injecting drug users and health workers)
• management/organisational structures (i.e. an agriculture activity divided into extension, training, research and credit components to reflect the local structure of the Department of Agriculture), and
• phasing of key activities (i.e. a rural electrification activity which requires a feasibility
Activities
1. Nutrition and Agriculture Education
Develop training materials for group training materials eg Facilitator training manual
Recruit and train facilitators
Recruit participants/Form community groups
Assumptions - All facilitators and trainees are able to understand developed materials
Assumptions: Participants are willing to be part of the project
GOAL: Reduce anaemia among WOCBA and children 6-59 months in rural Tabora
Outputs
Number of group sessions held
1. Nutrition and Agriculture Education - Outputs
Participants are available
Assuming community leaders will not back out of agreement
Assumption: People will consume/accept iron rich foods
participants will retain knowledge
Iron rich food are available at affordable price
People will choose/like iron rich foods
Stable climatic conditions
Iron deficiency is the cause of anemia ie no infectious causes or poor absorption There is no change in prevalence
Gender equality (men will not sell crops if a woman is growing them); socioeconomic equality: even distribution of education and seeds; household distribution of foods will be even
study, pilot testing, implementation and maintenance stages.
