Different Types Of Families
Nuclear Family
The nuclear family is the traditional type of family structure.
This family type consists of two parents and children.
a family consisting of two adults and any number of children living together. The children might be biological, step or adopted.
Single Parent Family
The single parent family consists of one parent raising one or more children on his own.
Often, a single parent family is a mother with her children, although there are single fathers as well.
Agape = Unconditional love
Extended Family
The extended family structure consists of two or more adults who are related, either by blood or marriage, living in the same home.
This family includes many relatives living together and working toward common goals, such as raising the children and keeping up with the household duties.
Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, either all living nearby or within the same household, eg if a married couple lives with either the husband or wife's parents, the family changes from a nuclear to extended household.
Blended Family
A family consisting of a couple, the children they have had together, and their children from previous relationships.
Also called a step family
Single Sex Families
Same-sex couples may come to parenthood in many ways – though former heterosexual relationships, as a foster parent or a step parent.
The 2011 Australian Census counted 33,714 same-sex couples.
Grandparent Family
Many grandparents today are raising their grandchildren for a variety of reasons.
This could be due to parents' death, addiction, abandonment or being unfit parents.
